There will be a Cactus Dig at the Inman Cemetery all week this week.  All volunteers should go at their own convenience.  We would like this to be done before mowing on Saturday, May 19th.

Wednesday, May 16th Three River Digital Cable is performing system repairs.  If you live in the Fairway & Hynes Avenue area, your service will be interrupted for approximately 2 hours.  We will then move to the Mayo & Donegal Streets area and continue system repairs for an additional 45 minutes.  three River apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.

WEDNESDAY MAY 16TH

The Boyd County Knights of Columbus are postponing the meeting scheduled for tonight and rescheduling it for Wednesday, May 23rd at 8:30 p.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Social Hall.

AsceraCare Hospice will be sponsoring the monthly birthday party at the Golden Living Center in O'Neill on Wednesday, May 16th starting at 2 p.m.  All May birthdays and anniversaries will be honored.

West Holt Little Paws Preschool application packets for the 2012-2013 school year are available in the West Holt Administration Office.  All children that will be 4 years old on or before July 31, 2012 are eligible to attend.

North Central District Health Department has released a Community Health Assessment Survey to randomly selected households in the nine county district.  This survey is a critical asset to the health status in our area. It will help identify the greatest health needs so the health department can identify and prioritize services to meet the needs throughout the district.  If your household was chosen for this survey please participate, as your help is greatly needed to identify our districts health needs.

SATURDAY MAY 19TH

The Chambers High School class mothers of 1995 invite you to a Bridal Shower honoring Keri Owens, fiancee of Chris Mueller on Saturday, May 19th at 2 p.m. in the Chambers Community Center.  Please consider this your invitation.  Gifts may be left at the Village Market ahead of time.  Keri and Chris are registered at Target.

Join the Chambers FCCLA National Qualifiers on Saturday, May 19th at 6:30 p.m. at the Chambers High School Gym for a Girl's Night Out!  For an admission price of $5, women of all ages are welcome to come enjoy manicures, makeovers and hair styling as well as mother-daughter or group portraits by professional photographer, Hannah Janousek.  Pictures will be available for purchase.  There will also be door prizes, a basket raffle, a craft booth, snacks, and a variety of free entertainment.  There will be Paparazzi Jewelry sales donated by Halie Whitaker (everything is just $5, cute and affordable), as well as Mary Kay Cosmetics/products by Toni Werner.  All proceeds will go to Chambers FCCLA National Qualifiers.

MONDAY MAY 21ST

St. Patrick's/St. Mary's Potluck Celebration in appreciation of the service of Sr. Anita Rolenc, N.D. and Fr. Jeff Lorig will be held on Monday, May 21st at 6 p.m. in the St. Patrick's Parish Hall.  Please bring a main dish and a side dish.  Table service, dessert and drinks will be provided.

The Board of Health for the North Central District Health Department will be holding their regular business meeting on Friday, May 25th, 2012 with roll call starting at 10:30a.m.  This meeting will take place at the office of the North Central District Health Department, located at 422 East Douglas, in O’Neill, Nebraska (68763).  A current agenda and meeting minutes are available at the District Health Department’s office.

SATURDAY MAY 26TH

The Chambers Public School 2012 Alumni Banquet will be held on Saturday, May 26th at 7 p.m. in the school gymnasium.  The legion will be available through out the day for visiting and gathering of the classes as in the past.  The gym doors will open at 6 p.m.  The cost is $15 per person before May 15th, from May 15th through May 23rd the price is $17 and no reservations will be accepted after May 23rd.  The honor classes this year are 1986-1987 and 1961 - 1962.  Pictures of the honor classes will be done by Studio B Photography in the gym at 6 p.m.  Mail your registration to Chambers Alumni Banquet, P.O. MONDAY MAY 28TH

The West Boyd FCCLA Chapter will be hosting the Annual Memorial Day Breakfast on Monday, May 28th at the West Boyd High School Multi-Purpose Room from 8 to 11 a.m.  They will be serving French Toast, Sausage, Scrambled Eggs, juice and coffee.  Proceeds will go to help with the expenses of chapter members who will be competing at National FCCLA competition in July.

The O'Neill American Legion Post 93 will conduct a Memorial Day Program at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 28th at the O'Neill Cemetery.

Pro Sanctity's Camp Fun & Faith 2012 in Lynch will be held from 4 p.m. Friday, June 1st through 5 p.m. Saturday, June 2nd. at the Niobrara House of Renewal.  All faiths are welcome.  This is a 24 hour overnight camp.  Cost is $25 per child and pre-school children are welcome but must be accompanied by parent or older sibling.  Families are invited to come to the closing program and potluck at 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 2nd.  For more information please contact 402-289-1938 or Kathy at 402-569-3143 or Candy at 402-569-3735.

The Verdigre Community Chorus will be celebrating 25 years! OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Lutheran Family Services of Grand Island will be starting a support group called Vets4Vets in O'Neill.  It will focus on the common experiences of veterans from all eras of military service.  Meetings will be held on the last Wednesday of every month beginning on March 28th.  These meetings will be held in O'Neill at the courthouse annex from 4 to 6 p.m.  If you have questions please call the veterans service office at 402-336-1200.

There are AA Meetings in Atkinson every Tuesday and every Thursday.  Tuesday is the 12 & 12 Study (closed meeting) at 8 PM at the Presbyterian Church on Highway 20.  Every Thursday there is a Big Book Study (closed meeting) at 8 PM at the Good Samaritan Center in Atkinson and an Open Meeting at 8 PM at the Presbyterian Church in Atkinson.

Stuart Community Church is a pick up site for the Atkinson/Stuart Food Pantry the first Monday of every month.  For applications or questions please contact Linda Nekuda at 402-340-3038.  The church is open from 3 to 5 p.m. on the first Monday of the month and is also open the last Friday of the month for signup for the following month from 3 to 5 p.m.

The Atkinson Food Pantry is open the first Monday of every month from 2 PM to5:30 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Atkinson.

Community Peer Tobacco Cessation Support Groups Meetings on Tuesday evenings from 6 PM to7 PM at Avera St Anthony's Hospital in O'Neill, Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh on Wednesdays at 7 PM to 8 PM, Osmond Hospital on Thursday evenings at 7 PM to 8 PM and at Creighton Area Health Services in Creighton every other Tuesday evening from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM.  No pre-registration or cost to attend.
