There will be a Bake Sale at Torpin's Rodeo Market on Saturday, November 21st starting at 9 a.m. until everything is gone.  Raffle tickets will be sold also for a Homestyles Design Nativity Set and a Ganz Belle Casa Snowman Cookie Jar.  Proceeds are helping Sarah Devall and Bailey Krieger, 6th graders at O'Neill Public Elementary raise money for their March 2010 People to People Leadership Conference to be held in Washington D.C.    Come check out the goodies!!

St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Orchard will be hosting a soup supper in the Fellowship Hall on Saturday November 21st with serving from 4 to 7 p.m.  They will be serving Chili, Chicken Noodle, Vegetable Beef & Loaded Baked Potato Soups.  Plus, Ham and Cheese or Chicken Salad sandwiches on Homemade bread, Pie, Cake & Beverages.  There will be matching funds from Thrivent.

Grace's Gracious Give Away at Grace Lutheran Church in Neligh will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday November 21st.

Delores Ruzicka's Craft Fair will be held on Saturday November 21st at the National Guard Armory in O'Neill from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  The VFW Ladies Auxiliary #926 will be serving lunch.  Beth Tielke will have a Support our Troops Booth. 

There will be a Thanksgiving Dinner Special at Sandhills Steaks and Spirits in Barlett, Ne on Saturday November 21st.  Serving will start at 5 p.m.  You have your choice of Turkey or Ham with all the trimmings.

There will be a 3 on 3 youth basketball league for boys in grades 3-6 this fall in O'Neill.  This will start on Saturday November 21st with registration at 8:30 a.m. at the O'Neill Elementary Gym.

The Neligh-Oakdale FCCLA is once again collecting applications for the ribbon tree.  The ribbon tree gives families and the elderly a chance to have Christmas presents under the tree that otherwise might not be there.  The applications for the Ribbon Tree are now available to pick up at Willows, Golden Living Center, Heritage BAnk, Pinnacle Bank, AMH Family Practice, Neligh Clinic, Neligh-Oakdale Pre-school, Health and Human Services Office, Thriftway, Post Office, Food Pantry, Neligh Library, and at the Neligh-Oakdale website (http://teachers.esu8.org/nohs/).  The applications need to be returned or mailed to Health and Human Services PO Box 1 Neligh, Ne 68756 by November 20th.

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 22ND

The St. Peter deAlcantara Catholic Church's Annual Bazaar at St. Dominic's Hall in Ewing Ne will be held on Sunday November 22nd from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  There will be homemade soup, Chili and Chicken Noodle, Sandwiches, and Desserts, a Bake Sale, a Raffle ($1.00 per ticket and get 1 free when you buy 10) There will also be Crafts, a Grab Bag, and Religious Items.

The Stuart American Legion Post #115 will again be serving a Thanksgiving Day Dinner on Sunday November 22nd from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  The menu will consist of turkey/Ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, vegetables, cranberry sauce, rolls, and dessert.  Total cost of meal will be: Adults age 12 and up $10, Children 5 to 11 yrs. $7.00 and Children under 5 free.  Tax is included with that price.  Cash bar will be open.  Opent to the public and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a time of great fellowship and a great meal.

The St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Amelia will be having its annual parish lunch and auction, along with a benefit for Lew Mueller.  It will be held on Sunday November 22nd at the Chambers American Legion.  Lunch will begin at 11 a.m. with the auction to begin at 1 p.m.

The Plainview Arts Council will host a Christmas Tour of Homes on Sunday, November 22nd from 1 to 4:30 p.m.  Six homes in and near Plainview will be decorated for the holidays for this event.  Cookies, cider, and coffee will be served at Serendipity, located at 408 West Locust Ave. in downtown Plainview where tickets and maps needed for the tour will also be available.  Plainview Arts Council members are admitted free with their season tickets with admission charged for non-members.  Children under the age of 10 are not permitted on the tour and cameras are also not alllowed..  Those attending are encouraged to wear slip on shoes as they will be asked to remove their shoes as they tour each home.  Storm date is Tuesday November 24th.

The week of Thanksgiving, the City of Atkinson's normal Thursday trash pickup will be done on Saturday, November 28th

MONDAY NOVEMBER 23RD

Niobrara Valley Electric Membership Corporation and Nebraska Public Power District will be coordinating a scheduled outage for the morning of Monday, November 23rd.  NVEMC Members served out of the Lynch substation can expect an outage of approximately 2 1/2 hours starting at 7:30 a.m.  The outage will affect the following areas; North of Lynch to the Missouri River including the recreation areas.  South of Lynch to the Redbird area and East to the Niobrara State Park, including the towns of Verdel and Monowi.  Niobrara Valley Electric appreciates your patience and understanding while needed repairs are made to shared equipment.

Bartlett will be having a 125th birthday celebration meeting on Monday, November 23rd at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds.  This meeting will be to organize the kick-off activity to be held in January and keep working on the schedule and theme.  It is so important that members of the community are present to make this celebration a success.  This celebration will be held the weekend of July 17 & 18, 2010.  If you are unable to attend and have an idea or would like to help, please call 308-654-3234.

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 24TH

The Souixland Community Bloodmobile will be in Spencer on Tuesday, November 24th at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.  The bloodmobile will be from noon to 5 p.m.  Call Irene at 589-1043 or Janie at 569-2107 for appointments.  Walk-ins are always welcome.

West Holt Health Ministries will meet Tuesday, November 24th at St. John's Church in Atkinson.  The food pantry will report for the year.  Fane Fick will speak from the League of Human Dignity.  All are welcome.  This will be the last meeting in 2009.  The next meeting will be January 26th, 2010.

THANKSGIVING DAY --  THURSDAY NOVEMBER 26TH

The L-Bar-B Steakhouse and Lounge in Clearwater will be closed Thanksgiving Day.

Give Thanks this Thanksgiving and come to the 9th Annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday November 26th.  All are welcome to come to the O'Neill National Guard Armory from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  For those who wish to contribute something, there will be containers for donations.  These donations will be on a voluntary basis and given to the Girl and Boy Scouts and the O'Neill Ministerial Association.  This is put on by George and Lonnie Fuller's family and friends.

A traditional Thanksgiving Dinner will be served on Thanksgiving Day Thursday November 26th at Our Savior's fellowship hall in Spencer.  Short worship service at 11:15 a.m. with the meal served following until about 1 p.m.  No charge for the meal and everyone is invited.  Meal is sponsored by the Spencer Community Club with financial assistance from Thrivent and NNTC.

FRIDAY DECEMBER 4TH

The Spencer Community Club is sponsoring the annual Tree Lighting, Free soup supper, music, and drawings on Friday December 4th at the West Boyd multi-use room (Spencer).  The tree lighting will begin at 5 p.m. at the Lions Club mini park.  The rest of the festivities will begin at 5:15 p.m. at the school.  Music will be by "Phillip and Friends".  Drawings throughout the evening with prizes donated by our local businesses.  Register that evening only, but you do not have to be present to win.
